Jennie Garth is showing the effects of the so-called ?divorce diet.? The 40-year-old actress looked rail thin during a recent public outing compared with her figure during her marriage to ?Twilight? star Peter Facinelli.Garth, best known for her role in the television drama ?90210,? was spotted out with one of three daughters, Lola Ray Facinelli, 9, at the ?Fox & Friends? studio in New York. She was slated to give an interview.
Garth was casually dressed in light-blue stretch pants, a white sleeveless blouse and a waist-jacket. When she took off the jacket her arms were noticeably thinner. Her face also looked gaunter. She may have lost as much as 10 to 15 pounds from her petite five-foot, five-inch frame.
Garth and Facinelli, who also Luca Bella, 15, and Fiona Eve, 5, ended their 11-year marriage in March. Divorce papers were formally filed last month. The case is still pending a resolution.
The ?divorce diet? is a well-known phenomenon and many women who go through a marital breakup experience losing weight at an alarming rate. The cause is mostly attributed to stress, according to medical references.
During a prolonged traumatic event, individuals tend to burn more calories and eat less without even realizing it. People who have experienced the syndrome say they literally forget to eat.
Men can also experience drastic weight fluctuation, although the more pronounced cases seem to involve women.
