Breaking: Green Deal Finance Company confirms 6.96 per cent ...

The Green Deal Finance Company (GDFC) has today confirmed that initial interest rate for finance packages available under the Green Deal energy efficiency scheme will stand at 6.96 per cent.

The underlying rate means that when operating fees are taken into account indicative interest rates on a financing package of ?5,000 will range from 7.67 per cent to 7.96 per cent depending on the duration of the loan.

The figure is lower than the eight to nine per cent some observers had predicted. GDFC said it would provide ?competitively priced finance [that is] open to all?, but Labour Shadow Climate Minister Luciana Berger attacked the offer as a ?sky high interest rate? that represents a ?bad deal for the public?.

The GDFC, a non-profit company backed by a group of 55 companies orchestrated by PwC, will offer funding to all accredited Green Deal providers at the same initial rate of 6.96 per cent per annum.

However, it will also impose a set up charge of ?63 for each Green Deal Plan and an annual operating charge of ?20, which will be payable by Green Deal providers and can be added to the overall cost of finance for the household or business that has signed up to the scheme.

The company said that due to the fixed costs associated with the administration fees households and businesses would get a better rate of interest if they undertook a wider range of building improvements.

For example, a Green Deal package of ?1,500 that only undertook basic insulation would result in a maximum interest rate of 9.34 per cent, but a wider package of measures worth ?5,000 would result in an annual interest rate of 7.96 per cent over 10 years or 7.67 per cent over 25 years.

?Our all-in cost of finance shows that the more energy efficiency measures a household takes advantage of, the better the long term return in terms of savings, and the lower the cost of overall finance,? said Mark Bayley, chief executive of the GDFC, in a statement.

The GDFC said the rates were comparable to the best high street rates for long-term unsecured loans and the government has consistently argued that Green Deal financing will adhere to the scheme?s golden rule whereby repayments are lower than the savings people receive from their energy bills.

But Berger warned interest rates in excess of seven per cent would badly undermine the appeal of a scheme that is meant to deliver a nationwide revamp of the UK?s building stock.

?The whole point of the Green Deal is that households are meant to save money on their energy bills ? but with rip off interest rates, hidden charges and penalty payments the Green Deal could end up costing people more than they save,? she said. ?With sky high interest rates like these it?s hard to see how the Green Deal will be anything other than a bad deal for the public.?

According to Labour calculations a household taking out a 25 year Green Deal package worth ?10,000 at a 6.96 per cent rate of interest would end up repaying close to ?21,000 over the course of the loan.

Concerns are also being raised about the reach of the scheme with the GDFC confirming that around 20 per cent of households will not be able to qualify for a Green Deal package.

However, Bayley insisted the reach of the scheme far exceeded any existing finance package and many of those qualifying for the scheme would have credit ratings that would demand much higher interest rates were they applying for other unsecured loans.

?We estimate that four out of five energy bill payers in the population will be able to access this finance,? he said. ?We know of no other source of low-cost credit which is this inclusive.

?While we?re committed to financial inclusion, we will only lend responsibly. That means finding other ways to help those already in default on their financial obligations. We will work with leading local authorities and providers to see how tailored local support, combined with the Government?s ?540m Affordable Warmth and Carbon Saving Communities programmes, can reach those who need additional help.?

The scheme officially launches on Monday, backed by a ?2m advertising and marketing campaign and a major cashback offer, which will provide early adopters with cash payments worth hundreds of pounds.

Ministers are hoping the opportunity to undertake property improvements at no upfront cost, secure net savings on energy bills, and in some cases receive in excess of ?1,000 in cash payments will encourage significant take up for the flagship scheme.

Bayley told BusinessGreen he expects the GDFC to hand out between ?200m and ?300m over the first year of the scheme and the organisation is in the last stages of raising finance. The first loans are expected to be paid out in April.

2013 Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading Evaluations

Hey Upward Families,

Well, it is what the kids and (if we are being honest) some of the adults have been waiting for, SNOW. ?It is very beautiful and fun to play in, however, it makes it difficult to do other things.

The purpose of evaluations is to determine the ability each child has so that teams can be evenly built. ?Though I believe the roads will be drivable, the snow will make it difficult to?execute?the cone weave. ?After much thought and discussion the evaluations scheduled for tomorrow will not take place. ?HOWEVER, there will be a team at the church manned with hot coffee and donuts ready to receive registration forms for those of you that need to still turn those in. ?We will also have a team ready to assist you in getting your child fitted for their new Upward jersey. ?The church will be open from 9:30 am until 11:30 am Saturday morning.

And with us having to cancel evaluations tomorrow this will make it?impossible?to help everyone through evaluations Monday due to?insufficient?daylight. ?So, we will not have evaluations on Monday night either. ?The plan will be to make ourselves available to you to turn in registration forms and get fitted for jerseys from 5:30-7:30 Monday evening.

With evaluations not working out, we will be working extra hard to ensure a level playing field for all of the children participating. ?We plan to use a combination of last year?s evaluation data for returning players, age, grade, and Upward experience to build our teams this year.? We would have loved to have held evaluations at another date, but we need at least two weeks between evaluations and the meet and greet so that kids will have their uniforms and playbooks before the first week of practice.? We thank you for your understanding and are truly looking forward to an awesome football and cheerleading season!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to stop by tomorrow or Monday and see me or one of the other commissioners. ?You can also email me, jwalton@nansemondriver.com.

Because of Christ,

91% Lincoln

All Critics (215) | Top Critics (43) | Fresh (195) | Rotten (20)

It's the most remarkable movie Steven Spielberg has made in quite a spell, and one of the things that makes it remarkable is how it fulfills those expectations by simultaneously ignoring and transcending them.

Lincoln paints a powerful and compelling portrait of the man who has become an icon. We don't need to see more of his life to understand how rare a figure he was - this window is more than sufficient.

Lincoln offers proof of what magic can happen when an actor falls in love with his character. Because as great as Day-Lewis has been in his many parts, he has never seemed quite so smitten.

The film masterfully captures the dual dilemmas facing the president in the final months of his life: how to bring the war between the states to an end, and how to eradicate slavery, once and for all.

Lincoln is a stirring reminder that politics can be noble. Might there be a lesson here for today's shrill D.C. discourse? 'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Day-Lewis' voice is thin and reedy, which jibes with historical accounts but subverts our expectations. His attitude makes listeners lean in, and so do we, magnetized by his kindly reserve.

Against the odds, Spielberg makes something genuinely exciting of the backstage wheedling.

A historic epic from Steven Spielberg carries a lot of baggage, but he surprises us with a remarkably contained approach to an iconic figure. What's most unexpected is that this is a political drama, not a biopic.

[Spielberg is] a man on a mission. And his not so secret weapon is Day-Lewis, an actor so charismatic it's hard to think clearly while he's on screen.

Perhaps this is a rose-tinted view of Lincoln - he comes across as more living saint than man - but as cinema, it is powerful, gripping and thoroughly entertaining.

Spielberg is always a professional, and the film is never less than well-crafted.

By stepping into history without fear, favour or any overfamiliar biopic folly, Lincoln, handsome, often thrilling, and movingly human, goes into history as a major movie achievement.

A rousing, rigorous and morally complex legal procedural more than a trad biopic. And all the better for it.

his is a warm, celebratory film, handsomely shot, with a subtle, sympathetic central performance from Day-Lewis, and tremendous support from Tommy Lee Jones ...

Spielberg's plodding camera endlessly tracks and circles Day-Lewis in complete reverence, while veteran composer John Williams delivers yet another repetitive Jurassic Extra-Terrestrial score.

What a feat from Day-Lewis: the nearest thing a 21st-century biopic can get to a seance.

It's tiresome to describe Day-Lewis as brilliant, so let's push the boat out: his Lincoln is absolutely wonderful.

A thoughtful and thought-proving picture.

Lincoln reminds you how little has actually changed in one-and-a-half centuries - presidents still have to worry about the war dead while trying to create a better life for the fractured living.

Impressively directed and superbly written, this is an absorbing and enjoyable political drama with an Oscar-worthy central performance from Daniel Day-Lewis.

Daniel Day-Lewis gives yet another performance for the ages in Steven Spielberg's admirably literate, thoroughly charming biopic.

Lincoln has been dismissed by some as merely 'people in rooms talking'. That may be true, but what people. And what talking.

Fans of great writing, superb acting, beautiful photography and the rousing scores of John Williams are going to lap this one up.

While Lincoln is high-minded and classy, it plays like a dry history lesson, despite a typically immaculate turn from Daniel Day-Lewis. In short, we have the definitive performance of Abraham Lincoln, but not the definitive movie.

'Lincoln' works as a snapshot of a great man without ever slipping into a portrait of sainthood.

This is the quietest of [Spielberg's] recent films, with an equally unobtrusive, delicately-crafted, totally absorbing performance from Daniel Day-Lewis.

AP PHOTOS: A look at women's military service

Through the years, women's roles in wartime have evolved ? not that women ever have been inclined to just stand by.

During the American Revolution, Nancy Morgan Hart was famously depicted with a musket, defending her home and children from British soldiers in Georgia.

In World War II, members of the Women Army Corps worked in a support capacity, while in Iraq and Afghanistan women have served closer to the front.

Those roles evolved further Thursday when Defense Secretary Leon Panetta signed an order ending the Pentagon's ban on women serving in combat.

Here's a collection of images showing some of the ways women have served their country in the U.S. military:

Peeling Grief?s Onion?takes?the TIME it takes!

Nancy Berns, author of?Closure: The Rush to End Grief and What It Costs Us?has this to say:

It?s wrong?to expect everyone else to follow a
formulaic ?healing process? aimed at ?moving on.?
?. . .
?You do not need to ?close? pain in order to live life again.?

Here, here!? I couldn?t agree more strongly.

We each grieve uniquely, and there are parts of our experience of grieving that will remain in our hearts forever ? thank God!

How horrible to think that significant loss might be marked with nothing more dramatic than a nod before moving on forever, thinking no more often about what we have lost than those remnants of a fast-food meal we tossed with last week?s?trash.

However,?I believe it is equally wrong to avoid?handing out a few maps of the territory in our fear of seeming didactic about a process that is one of the most individual of journeys.

  • There are markers that most of us swim by as we navigate the waters of grief, holding our lives above the waterline as best we can.
  • I believe that locating ourselves on our particular pathway is an important first step in our ability to navigate successfully ? sometimes at all.

Locating ourselves in the grief process is trickier than it might be otherwise, until we understand the concept I refer to as ?sneaky grief.?

Learning about Grief from my Clients and Students

Not that I haven?t had sufficient opportunity to learn grief?s lessons?personally, I found that?working with?others underscored for me the?individual?nature of the process.

  • Grief comes in many colors ? from the most INTENSE of shades
to the barest whisper of tint. ?
  • They are NOT the same, and they don?t feel the same ? but I believe it is a foolish mistake to kick one out of the color club simply because it does not have the saturation of the other.
  • Loss is loss.

I have NEVER stopped missing my mother or my sister, for example, and I will never stop missing each of my darling and much loved Shih Tzu. ?I grieved those loss equally. ?Loss is loss, and grief is grief. ?But I miss my mother and sister more personally than my puppies as time goes by ? I might say ?more intensely? until I am ambushed by the sight of another Shih Tzu owner playing with her dog.

Even though I have reached the state of Positive Acceptance with each of the losses above, the death of my most recent furry companion is fresher and still a bit ?raw.? ?Until I welcome a new puppy, I know to expect that kick in the gut reminder of loss to feel as strong as any I have ever felt.

The difference between today and the days of their deaths is what I find it takes,?following a fresh reminder of loss, for me to be ready emotionally to move on to the next item on my day?s agenda. The necessity of?navigating that transition remains, however.

Post Diagnostic Grieving

Likewise, grieving the loss of potential ? the significant loss of one?s former sense of Self ? must be expected more ?strongly? in the period immediately following diagnosis. It is unusual to ever reach a state in which that particular loss no longer MATTERS, however.

In the first article of this series,?The Interplay between?Diagnosis and Grief, ?I put it this way:

As we work our way toward the stage I refer to as ?positive acceptance,??where we are finally ready to move on with our lives, most of us cycle through the following stages at least once, however briefly:

Shock,?Anger,?Denial,?Bargaining,
Depression?
(mood vs disorder),
Resignation, and Preliminary Acceptance

We will have reached the stage I call ?positive acceptance??when we are able to incorporate a vision of the future that can include our diagnosis without identifying with it, embracing our potential for change and growth in expected and unexpected ways.

Positive Acceptance?reframes the impact of our diagnosis significantly.

What I Noticed in Others

  • Most of those I spoke with who had received relatively new diagnoses of one sort or another had no trouble embracing the concept of TIME necessary for healing.
  • Most were relieved to be encouraged to give themselves ?permission? to allow themselves whatever time they needed to heal enough to be ready to begin anew.
  • Many were grateful that somebody?attempted to make some kind of sense of the steps of the dance, and
  • Only the most black-and-white in their processing believed I was attempting to say that the map WAS the territory!

I was initially unprepared, however, for the comment from some that they were not grieving in the slightest ? that they were, in fact, elated to finally be able to put a name to what was going on.

That comment alerted me to the need to pay closer attention to the ?disconnect? between what they were feeling and the actions they were reporting.

And that?s when I began to articulate the concept of SNEAKY grief. ?

This is how I have explained it to my clients:

the_sneaky_ninja_by_kirillee-d2m052r

Post-diagnosis, MOST of us embark on a one year period of what I call ?sneaky grief? while we integrate this new information and reshape our self images.

It takes at least a year because that is how long it takes to hit each marker of remembrance at least once: each event that we envisioned differently one short year ago.

It?s sneaky because, for many of us, the emotional stages lurk and linger slightly below the threshold of our conscious awareness.

Most people DO cycle through shock, anger, denial, bargaining, sadness (if not depression), resignation and beyond, as they work their way toward positive acceptance ??even those who start out relieved and hopeful overall, and remain consciously so throughout the process.

However, there are changes in behavior that others may note and we may notice, even as we insist our emotional reactions can be validly attributed to anything at all besides a stage of GRIEF, for heaven?s sakes!

Things that might have been mere ?blips? on the screen before diagnosis may suddenly loom large.

  • You may find yourself unusually sensitive or emotionally?reactive, ?weeping over dog-food commercials? I like to call it, or you may eventually realize that that you have been taking comments to heart in ways that weren?t intended.
  • Actions of others may suddenly move from the ?endearingly annoying? to the ?I?m not putting up with THIS another second? column in your emotional checks-and-balances ledger.
  • The usually easy-going may become more than a tad, shall we say, testy, and those who have always struggled to remain silent if they couldn?t say something positive may start losing the struggle!

It certainly won?t be entirely unjustified, just not the way you generally have approached similar situations in the past. You may be more than a bit unsettled when that suggestion rears its ugly head ? ready to dig-in and defend your rationale with a strength that may surprise you.

  • You may find yourself further dismayed by the strength of your disappointment that a certain activity did not work out as projected, and might realize only afterwards that you had been bargaining with the universe and that this particular chip wouldn?t barter ? ?sneaky? grief.

It?s a normal part of the process, and much easier to go through if somebody clues you in about it so you can understand some emotions that seem otherwise to come out of nowhere.

The fastest way ?round is through!

The extent to which you identify your feelings and FEEL them, instead of ?soldiering on as usual? or discounting them as ?over-reactions,? is exactly the extent to which you will be able to use the information productively, if not always happily.

It will pay huge dividends in the future to give yourself permission ?to be wherever you are? for as long as you need to be there ? ultimately passing through all of the stages more quickly and with greater ease than do those who attempt to ?logic? or ?stoic? their way through, ?doing their strong woman number,??or ?stiff upper-lipping it.?

As we age, life presents many more losses to be grieved, and those who haven?t given themselves the time and focus to process the diagnostic grief year will probably find themselves in ?remediation? with every new loss, adding unnecessary layers to the process.

ADDvice for ADDults

If you have, or can initiate, a relationship with an ADD-literate therapist (or Spiritual counselor) and/or a comprehensively trained brain-based ADD Coach, you will probably find that it will help tremendously.

I personally find the process of working through grief issues alone MUCH more difficult than with another, and easiest with a guide who is trained to help me explore the feelings that surface.

I believe it is one of the most important functions of therapy with ADDers, by the way.

The good news about ADD is that our natural energy and creativity, coupled with the coping muscles developed from years of ?swimming upstream,? allow us to make up for lost time relatively easily when we get what we need to swim WITH the current ? just as the hare can outpace the tortoise the minute he decides he wants to do so.

Many of us decide we?re ready to spend some newly available energy on areas of our lives that have always seemed beyond us, due to the demands of undiagnosed ADD? ? proceeding with current goals no more quickly, but adding a richness to our lives that we never believed would be possible to manage without forgoing sleep entirely.

For us, shaking up our paradigms tends to feel??natural and normal,? and we don?t seem to experience the reticence toward change reported by many non-ADDers.

Most of us ADORE the new and different ? our fears that we lack success skills (and doubts that we could handle it if anything were to get worse), keep us stuck, rather than their fears of rocking a ?good enough? boat.

  • There are no limits, beyond those that nature gives us ? clues, I believe, to those things we will find most rewarding.
  • We can create anything we want ? a life we?love?? and a recent diagnosis, once we have processed well enough to return to some sense of equilibrium, can serve to initiate the ?fresh start? opportunity that others dream of and seldom allow themselves.

Just try not to overlook the signs of that sneaky grief so that you can, most directly, get to that place where you have processed well enough!

Personal Finance Tips That Will Help You Save Cash | BrianElrod.com

If you?re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Your ability to manage your finances is reflected in almost every part of your life. Taking control over your personal finances can be a great self esteem builder and stress reliever. The tips provided here will help you to achieve your goal of effective financial management.

You can improve your credit rating by paying your bills on time and in full each month. If you pay bills early, you will then know how much cash you will be left with. It also helps you be able to take care of unexpected expenses as they come up.

A person looking for a way to add a little extra to their financial resources can make good use of his or her old laptop. If it works or just needs a slight fix, then you can make money on it by selling it. If it?s broken, it can still be sold for some extra change. Remember, getting a little bit of money is a lot better than getting nothing.

Build a monthly budget based on a reasonable monthly expense list that you have tracked. Make sure to pinpoint areas where you seem to be spending excess amounts of money. If you don?t make changes, it?s likely you?ll be broke even if you?re double your income. Personal finance software can make the process less stressful and even interesting. If money is left over, pay down your debt or start a savings account that is high-yield.

Don?t hang on to investments simply because they have historically done well. If, over time, you see that your investment in a company has not performed, it might be time to sell and re-invest your money into a company with better prospects.

Chart out when all of your bills are due. This method will allow you to be aware of your payment due dates, regardless of whether or not you get a statement in the mail. Avoid needless late fees whenever possible.

Talk to your friends and family about your personal finances. That way, you can avoid feeling poorly if they invite you to do things and you cannot afford it. If you are not honest about why you cannot go, they might think you are mad at them! Let your friends what is happening with your situation.

Avoid using credit cards. As a matter of fact, find methods of preventing paying interest on anything, including financing for home and cars. Interest payments can really add up, so minimizing or eliminating them will make it easier to be frugal.

Keep your eye on the market trends when planning your forex trades. You need to constantly stay up to date on the market. You want to purchase when prices are at their lowest and sell when they have reached a peak. Do not sell a downswing or an upswing. You must have a goal, and stick to it during these wild trends.

If you want a mortgage, you should have a credit score of 740. Having a score in this range will ensure you get good interest rates. If your credit score needs some help, take the time and effort to fix it. Unless it is an absolute necessity, avoid mortgage applications while your credit rating is still down.

Always have money in your savings account in case of an emergency. You should also save for specific goals.

Be vigilant for mail from credit card companies that inform you about changes to your account. You legally must be notified 45 days before any changes are made. Go through the changes meticulously and decide if the changes coming up mean that the account is still worth holding. If you do not want to keep the account, pay what you owe and close it.

One way to save on bank fees is to only use the ATM?s at your financial institution. Financial institutions like banks often charge high transaction fees when people use other ATMs, and those fees can be very expensive.

Coupons for all manner of products can be easily found simply by searching online. These coupons can save a large sum of money when added up over time and are a great way for anyone to take charge of their finances.

You?ve seen how the way you manage money affects every area of your life. Make sure you see positive outcomes from your finances by using the tips in this article.

Logitech Q3 earnings reveal plans to sell off Harmony remote, video security divisions

The fiscal 2013 Q3 numbers from Logitech are in, and according to new CEO Bracken P Darrell, the "disappointing" results will require immediate action to turn around -- action that includes selling off its remote control (read: Harmony) and digital video security divisions. At this time last year, we were still looking forward to a refresh of the line which resulted in the Harmony Touch, but that does not appear to have turned things around. Harmony remote sales fell off by 55 percent based on units, although a focus on higher end devices like the new Touch meant revenue declined only 24 percent.

According to a slide in the presentation, after a strategic review, Logitech is focusing on tablet accessories, wireless speakers as well as keeping its lead in PC-related products. Other "non-strategic" products are also on the chopping block, and we'd have to think that includes video conferencing after yesterday's announcement. Current owners worried about potential support should be taken care of however, as a post by Darrell on the support forums indicates company will continue to provide support during the sale process and all current warranties are still in effect. There's no word about a possible buyer, but we'll be tuning into the earnings call tomorrow morning to see what additional information is revealed.

Add Junior Seau's family to the thousands of people who are suing the NFL over the long-term damage caused by concussions.

Seau's ex-wife and four children sued the league Wednesday, saying the former linebacker's suicide was the result of brain disease caused by violent hits he sustained while playing football.

The wrongful death lawsuit, filed in California Superior Court in San Diego, blames the NFL for its "acts or omissions" that hid the dangers of repetitive blows to the head. It says Seau developed chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) from those hits, and accuses the NFL of deliberately ignoring and concealing evidence of the risks associated with traumatic brain injuries.

Seau died at age 43 of a self-inflicted gunshot in May. He was diagnosed with CTE, based on posthumous tests, earlier this month.

An Associated Press review in November found that more than 3,800 players have sued the NFL over head injuries in at least 175 cases as the concussion issue has gained attention in recent years. The total number of plaintiffs is 6,000 when spouses, relatives and other representatives are included.

Scores of the concussion lawsuits have been brought together before U.S. District Judge Anita B. Brody in Philadelphia.

"Our attorneys will review it and respond to the claims appropriately through the court," the NFL said in a statement Wednesday.

Helmet manufacturer Riddell Inc., also is a defendant, with the Seau family saying Riddell was "negligent in their design, testing, assembly, manufacture, marketing, and engineering of the helmets" used by NFL players. The suit says the helmets were unreasonably dangerous and unsafe.

Riddell issued a statement saying it is, "confident in the integrity of our products and our ability to successfully defend our products against challenges."

Seau was one of the best linebackers during his 20 seasons in the NFL, retiring in 2009.

"We were saddened to learn that Junior, a loving father and teammate, suffered from CTE," the family said in a statement released to the AP. "While Junior always expected to have aches and pains from his playing days, none of us ever fathomed that he would suffer a debilitating brain disease that would cause him to leave us too soon.

"We know this lawsuit will not bring back Junior. But it will send a message that the NFL needs to care for its former players, acknowledge its decades of deception on the issue of head injuries and player safety, and make the game safer for future generations."

Plaintiffs are listed as Gina Seau, Junior's ex-wife; Junior's children Tyler, Sydney, Jake and Hunter, and Bette Hoffman, trustee of Seau's estate.

The lawsuit accuses the league of glorifying the violence in pro football, and creating the impression that delivering big hits "is a badge of courage which does not seriously threaten one's health."

It singles out NFL Films and some of its videos for promoting the brutality of the game.

"In 1993's 'NFL Rocks,' Junior Seau offered his opinion on the measure of a punishing hit: 'If I can feel some dizziness, I know that guy is feeling double (that)," the suit says.

The NFL consistently has denied allegations similar to those in the lawsuit.

"The NFL, both directly and in partnership with the NIH, Centers for Disease Control and other leading organizations, is committed to supporting a wide range of independent medical and scientific research that will both address CTE and promote the long-term health and safety of athletes at all levels," the league told the AP after it was revealed Seau had CTE.

The lawsuit claims money was behind the NFL's actions.

"The NFL knew or suspected that any rule changes that sought to recognize that link (to brain disease) and the health risk to NFL players would impose an economic cost that would significantly and adversely change the profit margins enjoyed by the NFL and its teams," the Seaus said in the suit.

The National Institutes of Health, based in Bethesda, Md., studied three unidentified brains, one of which was Seau's, and said the findings on Seau were similar to autopsies of people "with exposure to repetitive head injuries."

"It was important to us to get to the bottom of this, the truth," Gina Seau told the AP then. "And now that it has been conclusively determined from every expert that he had obviously had CTE, we just hope it is taken more seriously. You can't deny it exists, and it is hard to deny there is a link between head trauma and CTE. There's such strong evidence correlating head trauma and collisions and CTE."

In the final years of his life, Seau went through wild behavior swings, according to Gina and to 23-year-old son, Tyler. There also were signs of irrationality, forgetfulness, insomnia and depression.

"He emotionally detached himself and would kind of 'go away' for a little bit," Tyler Seau said. "And then the depression and things like that. It started to progressively get worse."

New Study Shows Photos Can Boost a Home's Sales Price | Fuller ...

21Jan 2013

The age-old adage ?A picture is worth a thousand words? couldn?t be more true when it comes to placing your home on today?s real estate market. A home?s first impression can make or break a sale, and can even affect the seller?s asking price.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that?photos can actually increase a home?s sales price. The study, conducted by Ken H. Johnson, an associate professor of finance at Florida International University?s Hollo School of Real Estate, found that adding interior photos was much more effective than just exterior photos alone. ?If I was selling, I would put every picture I could on the listing, at a ratio of four to five interior vs. one exterior,? Johnson told The Wall Street Journal. Not only does today?s tech-savvy buyer want immediate results, they want a genuine feel for the lifestyle the home affords. Most importantly, they weed out their choices with their first go-to resource ? online photography.

Sotheby?s International Realty,?a leader in the sale and purchase of luxury residences around the world, is widely renowned for their use of high-caliber photography. What is the law of attraction? | Self Help Self Improvement Personal ...

You need a 7 Day BrainwashThere are several natural laws by which we are all bound, and the law of attraction is just one of these. These laws definitely exist- you can see the law of gravity (another natural law) in action every time you drop something and watch it fall to the floor!

The law of attraction works by making sure that what is brought into your life matches the thoughts and energy you are sending out. Everything in the universe is made of energy- including us. Everything you can see is made up of different configurations of energy. If you were to look at your hand through a powerful enough telescope, you would see that your hand is not actually a solid object but made up of countless tiny atoms. These atoms are never static, but are in a constant state of motion. You are constantly radiating this energy out to the universe in the form of thoughts (which are also made up of energy), and the type of energy sent out depends on your emotional state at that particular time. These emotional thought energies are known as vibrations? and automatically attract back to us anything that is on the same vibrational frequency. Put simply, your emotions and thought determine what you are attracting. You become a magnet, attracting whatever you think about, especially if you attach emotion to the thought.

Energy vibrates at different frequencies, and the things you attract into your life are vibrating at the same frequency as your thoughts. Thoughts such as love, excitement and abundance vibrate at higher frequencies which will attract more of these things to you, whereas thoughts such as stress, anger and confusion vibrate at lower frequencies which will attract more of them into your life.

For example, if you are constantly feeling anxious because your car needs repairs and you have some large bills due which you don?t know how you will pay, the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract back to you things on a similar frequency; for example you will receive more things to feel anxious about- you may get more bills or your washing machine may develop a fault.

On the other hand, if you are feeling good about yourself and happy with life then the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract more reasons for you to feel good and happy with your life.

Just as the law of gravity is always working, the law of attraction is also always working, even though we are not always aware of it. Everything we currently have in our lives right now is what we attracted- whether it is poor relationships, ill health or lack of money. Even the clothes you wear and the car you drive- your thoughts attracted them whether you were aware of this or not. Although this may seem a little depressing, it is actually quite empowering! How? Well, if you unconsciously attracted things you didn?t want into your life, now that you know about the law of attraction and how it works, you can start deliberately attracting the things you do want!

How To File Bankruptcy The Right Way | Finance News Today ...

Are you so far in debt that you may have to file for bankruptcy? If so, you have come to the right place. There are many effective ways to help yourself get back on your feet financially so you do not have to file for bankruptcy. Read through this guide and learn how you could avoid being bankrupt.

You need to look over all your bankruptcy options and choose the best one for you. There are a few different kinds of bankruptcy to consider. Be sure to do a lot of research before filing for bankruptcy. Determine which types of bankruptcy are available to you and then figure out which one best suits your needs.

Chapter 13

If you find out that you don?t qualify for the Homestead Exemption after filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you may be able to file Chapter 13 in addition for your mortgage. Sometimes it is better to switch the whole Chapter 7 case to the Chapter 13 case. Speak with your attorney for advice on this.

Look for a local attorney with an excellent reputation. Once you have a short list of attorneys, ask if they give free consultations. After finding out whether or not you will receive a free consultation, you can then ensure that all your financial info is correctly gathered before ultimately seeing the lawyer. Your lawyer will then educate you on how the filing process will go.

Engage in due diligence before you act. If you need to file for bankruptcy and you can?t afford an attorney, you may wish to do it yourself. Be scrupulous and thorough in your research and preparation if you decide to do so. Those that do it themselves commonly make errors, preventing them in securing a discharge. You need to make sure you?re doing everything right.

United States

Knowledge is power when you?re considering bankrupcy; there are many websites available to help you. The United States There is solid advice available from the NACBA, (Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys? association) the ABI, (American Bankruptcy Institute) and the United States Department of Justice. The more you know, the better prepared you will be to make the best decisions and ensure that your bankruptcy goes smoothly.

Once you have filed for bankruptcy, it is important to be cautious about incurring new debt. Some lender may offer credit cards to those who have filed for bankruptcy and want a new start. Be aware that these offers have huge interest rates. You need to maintain tight control over your finances following bankruptcy; using unfavorable credit offers can land you in serious debt trouble all over again.

Prior to putting in the bankruptcy paperwork, determine what assets are protected from seizure. The Bankruptcy Code provides a list of all the different kinds of assets that you can exclude. Make sure to review the list before filing a claim so you know if your valuables will be subject to seizure. You wouldn?t want to unexpectedly lose any possessions you treasure.

It is possible to re-file for bankruptcy if your first case is dismissed due to an error. But, most of the time, you only get an automatic stay for thirty days after filing if the case was previously dismissed. It is possible to get the stay extended, if there is a good reason for the error and refiling.

Chapter 7

Don?t naturally think every single one of your debts is going to be forgiven if you take Chapter 7. Some debts require you to reaffirm them by signing a new repayment agreement, while some others are very rarely dischargeable at all. Chapter 7 does not eliminate child support payments, alimony, or court-imposed fines.

Keep yourself focused on everything your attorney does while going through personal bankruptcy. Talk on the phone or send emails on a regular basis to stay informed. Mistakes can unintentionally occur in busy law firms, which is why it is important to keep on top of things yourself, just in case. Despite popular belief, remember that lawyers are also human.

Before you decide to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you should consider what your bankruptcy might have on others, as your family and friends may be affected. Speak to an attorney or read the bankruptcy laws in your state to find out if certain loans can be excluded from your filing. However, creditors will want to hold your co-signer responsible completely.

Make sure you act at an appropriate time. They say timing is everything, and this rings true when filing for bankruptcy. Sometimes, it is good to file immediately, but sometimes it is smarter to wait until you have passed through the worst of things. Consult with an attorney who specializes in bankruptcy so you know when it is a good time to file.

Don?t leave all the details in your lawyer?s hands. It?s true that your attorney knows the ins and outs of bankruptcy, but staying informed about the progress of your case is a good idea. It can be tempting to leave everything up to your lawyer, but remember?this is your financial life on the line.

Planning right can help you make the right decision. It is best to have time on your side. Just be certain that the steps you are taking are the ones that will prevent the necessity of filing for personal bankruptcy. Once you have resolved your debt problems, you will be ready to start moving forward.

Perhaps your search for stock investment analysis information has been a long journey. Don?t forget to use what you have learned in a positive way. You need to continue to learn all you can on stock investment analysis so that you can be successful.

Official: 25 more bodies found at Algerian plant

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) ? An Algerian security official says bomb squads scouring a gas plant where radical Islamists took dozens of foreign workers hostage have found 25 more bodies.

The state of some of the bodies discovered Sunday, a day after a bloody raid ended a four-day siege at the plant in the Sahara desert, is making it difficult to tell whether the dead were hostages or the attackers, the official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.

Algerian authorities said on Saturday that 23 hostages and 32 captors were known to have died but that those figures were expected to rise.

Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear ...

jd 166x300 Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear? No, Terminator 5 is not coming out soon, from what I know. But I do? think I would be a good one though icon smile Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear?

This was a joke picture a (female) friend took one day. Which I then put up on Facebook. I got quite a response!

Anyhow, this picture got me thinking- would most healthcare type professionals (like me) be willing to do this? Not? to be a big headed, but to show people how their health and fitness programme is working for them?

I agree with Paul Chek when he says, ?If you cant teach health and fitness in your underwear, you shouldn?t be teaching it!? This isn?t arrogance as most people with low self-esteem would think. its sharing your truth!

its not even about being perfect or being the best, or being the biggest. its all about walking the walk to the best of your abilities. This point mainly applies to the following health and fitness professionals:

-Fitness Instructors/Personal Trainers

-Class instructors

-Doctors

-Nutritionists, and the like

-Strength coaches

-C.H.E.K practitioners at all levels

-Physical Therapists/Functional Trainers

-Athletic/sports coaches of all types

-Health and fitness writers

(Not so much so with pure bodywork therapists. But they should still make an effort to look their best!)

Why? Because most of these professionals mainly deal with health, body shape transformation, physical development/beauty and strength. And its blatantly obvious if they don?t own it themselves. This is not a personal dig at anyone, but a professional one.

I had so many people (and friends) who where gym members saying things to me like:

?I was in the gym the other day, and the personal trainer who was working their was so out of shape!?

I?m not against people in general being ?out of shape? and overweight, but I?m against health care professionals who deal with the above, that are. Especially if they have been in the business for many years, and should know better.

When I first decided to start out in the health and fitness industry, I had never used a gym, but wanted to work in one to some degree. I said to myself, ?If I want to teach people how to use a gym, I better start using it myself and build my body as proof.?

As I didn?t feel comfortable using a gym on my own, at that time, I got my own weight training equipment for home, and used that for around six months to a year, whilst learning all I could about training and fitness. Only after then I applied to work in a gym as a basic Fitness Instructor.

I knew even from then you must walk your talk (to the best of your abilities), with what ever you are preaching. For example:

If your teaching others to get ripped and lean-? BE RIPPED AND LEAN YOURSELF

If your teaching others to have good posture-? HAVE GOOD POSTURE YOURSELF

If you are teaching other to get stronger-? BE STRONG ENOUGH (FOR YOU) YOURSELF

Etc, etc? Get the point?

Also, as I have said before, if you are teaching people how to eat, be healthier and be fitter, you should ask yourself (as I do myself):

How lean am I?

Do I have chubby face and fat around my middle?

Whats my posture like?

Whats my breathing like?

How clear is my skin?

Have I had to use certain ?enhancing? products to look the way I look (and deceiving my clients)?

Do I have dark circles/bags under my eyes?

Do I have a sparkle in my eyes?

How strong/muscular/fit am I relative to my body weight and gender (and genetics)?

Would I be willing to teach them in my underwear?

Am I general always happy?

Am I always in chronic and constant pain?

Am I always tired?

What is my aura (energy field) like when you I around people?, etc, etc.

Again, its not about being perfect or a health freak, its all about being the best you can be! We all have stuff to work on. That?s what self-development is. But most health care professionals are not at THEIR physical best.

Look and the likes of Paul Chek, Eugen Sandow and Jack Lalanne. These guys didn?t take steroids. Just hard training, good food and plenty of rest!

paul chek Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear?Eugen Sandow Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear?jack lalanne Would you be willing to teach health & fitness in your underwear?

The first two are my biggest inspiration. But who are you inspiring? The word inspire means to be in spirit. When you put someone ?in spirit? it just makes them want to workout (in this case) just by looking at you.

Also, if you are a health care professional, be careful from who you are getting advice and education from. When you do, ask yourself:

How lean are they?

Do they have chubby face and fat around their middle?

Whats their posture like?

Whats their breathing like?

How clear is their skin?

Have they had to use certain ?enhancing? products to look the way they look?

Do they have dark circles/bags under theirs eyes?

Do they have a sparkle in their eyes?

How strong/muscular/fit are they relative to their body weight and gender?

Would they be willing to teach you in their underwear?

Are they general always happy?

Are they always tired?

Are they always in chronic and constant pain?

What their aura (energy field) like when you are around them?, etc, etc

?

Best of luck on ?being the change? for others to see!

Joe

P.S. I highly recommend Paul Chek?s book How to Eat, Move and be Healthy to help you be the change.

Boehner invites Obama to give State of the Union on Feb. 12

President Barack Obama delivers remarks at the White House on Nov. 28, 2012. (Kevin Lamarque/Reuters)Republican House Speaker John Boehner on Friday formally invited President Barack Obama to deliver his State of the Union address on Feb. 12.

?Our nation continues to face immense challenges, and the American people expect us to work together in the new year to find meaningful solutions,? Boehner said in a letter to Obama released by the speaker?s office. ?This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership.

?For that reason, the Congress and the Nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America?s great challenges,? the lawmaker continued. ?Therefore, it is my privilege to invite you to speak before a Joint Session of Congress on February 12, 2013, in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol Building.?

Obama will get two high-profile opportunities to address the country (and the world) within just a few weeks. He will make his inaugural address on Jan. 21, laying out his broad vision for his second term in the White House. The State of the Union is expected to be more heavy on policy (though that particular speech is sometimes lampooned as ?I come before you tonight to speak in ringing tones and stare into the middle distance," no matter who is the president).

Flipboard updated to support Android 4.2 Daydream feature

Flipboard

Flipboard for Android was updated today, and along with a fix for "accidental" flipping and some minor bug fixes, there is a major feature added in -- support for Android 4.2's Daydream feature. Flipboard says this "allows you to create a screensaver made out of Flipboard covers," and that's a pretty good description.

You won't find any new settings inside the Flipboard app itself, but if you open the display settings on your Jelly Bean 4.2 device you'll see Flipboard listed under the different Daydream modes. The screensaver itself is well done, with the zooming and gently panning of images you'll find in the Photo Table Daydream provided by Google. It uses the entries in our Cover stories category, so you'll probably want to adjust those a bit.

It's more media centric than the Currents Daydream, and lacks a lot of textual information, but we're really excited to see a major player take advantage of the tools Google provides to make unique and awesome apps. Grab the update or install the app for the first time from the link above.

Thanks, Carlos!
